We have confidence in solar energy and now save around 275 tonnes of CO2 per year with our new plant. This represents the same contribution as around 22,000 newly planted trees. It is all made possible by the installation of 1,260 solar modules on the roofs of the entire administrative and logistics building at our headquarters in Leinfelden-Echterdingen.
1,260 solar modules were installed in an east-west orientation on the 2,600 m² roof area above the entire administration and logistics building in Leinfelden-Echterdingen. The expected output of almost 460,000 kWh per year will mainly be used for the company's own needs. This corresponds to about 50% of the annual electricity requirement. Any surpluses, for example at the weekend, are fed into the public grid.
At the same time as the photovoltaic system, nine charging stations for electric vehicles were also installed on the company premises. These can now also be supplied with the self-generated electricity.
Environmental protection is an integral part of the corporate culture at Ferdinand Gross GmbH & Co. KG. The company has had an environmental management system for many years and is ISO 14001:2015 certified. The photovoltaic system is now another important building block for climate protection. Of course, economic considerations also play a role. “Especially in bad economic times it is important to invest. Thanks to the photovoltaic system, we can permanently reduce our operating costs, which in turn has a positive effect on our profitability,” explains Managing Director Thomas Erb.
